I served 11 years in U.S Army, 4 years as Paratrooper, 7 years on a special forces ODA (Operational Detachment Alpha). I did 2 years in Iraq on a PSD team. Still currently serving in the Special Forces National Guard as a Sr. Weapons Sgt. I started Crossfit in Iraq in 2006. I needed to find a way to move around with all my equipment strapped to my body. After 2 months of Crossfit, I found myself weighing less and moving more weight, feeling and looking better. I never looked back. I still use Crossfit to stay active and help perform my job in the military and personal life.
I was introduced to Crossfit in 2010 while serving in the Navy. My first workout had rowing, pull-ups, and thrusters in it and afterward I was floored. To me it resembled the same feeling you get after a wrestling match which got me hooked immediately. It exposed my weaknesses and gave me a new perspective on fitness.
Through the years it has been a challenge finding the proper guidance in the Crossfit world which is why I got into coaching. I’ve been a competitor my whole life, and love working with like-minded people. My favorite times in the gym are when I’m being surrounded by curious people with a willing attitude.
A native Long Islander, I am a former collegiate lacrosse player with a B.A. in Sociology from Hofstra University. I have always had a competitive nature with much interest in fitness and agility. I have a strong passion for helping others and want the best for everyone.
Though I have tried a variety of fitness training techniques, CrossFit has drawn me in more than any other because of the emphasis on functional movements that are useful for everyday life. Crossfit Hamptons specifically focuses on the importance of mechanics and proper form first. We are proud of our community at Crossfit Hamptons, and feel that our members are more like teammates. The members who come in each day to give it their best and leave with a smile on their face is what makes my job so fulfilling.
The coaching staff here are second to none in their efforts to make mechanics and functional movements top priority. It’s refreshing to see coaches who genuinely care about how members are doing both in and out of the gym setting. I am proud of be a part of Crossfit Hamptons and can’t wait to see you in the gym!
